 ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

This month I thought it appropriate to address what is most likely the biggest challenge for so many in healthcare, whether you are a payor, provider, digital health platform, caregiver, and even a patient. That is, how to re-enter into our changed society of more 'distance' --distance learning, remote working, digital doctor visits, AI data, etc., and increase our engagement with others to simply feel better and improve our health.

It all starts with improving our experiences. We know that creating better user experiences improves outcomes, but what have we learned in the last year that pushes us beyond our usual approach? Our first article, Mastering the Healthcare Member Experience talks about going beyond the traditional personas when segmenting your target.

Katy shares the recent New England Journal of Medicine article that refers to our Building Better Caregivers® program, which talks about the importance of caring for caregivers to improve the health of the patient and ease the experience for the caregiver. Also from the Canary Peers group is an article about the importance of the interplay between emotional and physical health to improve the patient experience.

The Canary Coaches team shares my new chapter on Using Digital Health Technology to Prevent and Treat Diabetes from the ATTD 2020 Yearbook, and Dawn shares Coach Debbie's approach to connecting with participants to improve their health by understanding what's happening in a participants environment.

Lastly, we've listed some upcoming industry events we think you'll find helpful, including my presentation tomorrow morning at ATTD, and a few NCOA events. We hope you'll join us. And please be sure to share our new Marketing Assistant role we have open with anyone you know looking to break into digital health.

Wishing you and yours good health.

Mastering The Healthcare Member Experience

From O'Neal Digital Solutions

Modern healthcare marketing moves at a speed that strives to increase convenience and improve user experience. The staggering advancement in communication touch points and data analytics dramatically presents communication benefits but also begs the question: how do companies meet digital demands while also ensuring personal, relevant communication?

The answer can be found through the use of healthcare personas, but not limited to
traditional demographic insight. Read the white paper from O'Neal Digital Solutions to understand how to communicate more effectively, build better relationships, increase satisfaction, and ensure customers for life.

Meet Jack.

Jack is in the 65+ demographic. His health insurer considers him a typical Baby Boomer, which assumes that Jack, like many in his demographic, meets certain assumptions.

The Interplay between Emotional Wellness and Physical Health

From MedCity News

In the days of AI and a high level of digital interaction through digital health platforms, it's even more important to make connections with patients. Treating the emotional part will not only do that, but also improve patient health.  MedCity News recently published an article about the connection between the two.  Canary Peers Building Better Caregivers ® and Better Choices, Better Health® programs include peer facilitators to guide participants through the programs who have experienced similar health challenges as the participants. We believe this allows us to better understand the patient beyond the curriculum to better tailor their experience.  Being able to better tailor their experience has proven to lead to better outcomes.
2020 Yearbook on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD)

The 12th Yearbook on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD Yearbook 2020), summarizes the most important articles in the field of diabetes technology, published in medical journals during the period between July 2019 to June 2020.

Meet Coach Debbie

By Dawn Menning

You may find Coach Debbie on the dance floor doing the tango but when she’s not she is a valuable part of the Prevent Diabetes® team.  Debbie’s life and passion for healthy living began in her hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina.   Her father was a cardiologist and she worked as a clinical dietitian with him focusing on providing nutrition education to those with heart disease, diabetes, chronic conditions, hypertension, or obesity.  Debbie has helped participants lose anywhere from 10-25 pounds while she’s coached them in the Prevent Diabetes®
program.
